Evangelist Marketing

www.Dictionary.com description of evangelist

1. a Protestant minister or layperson who serves as an itinerant or special preacher, esp. a revivalist.
2. a preacher of the gospel.
3. a person marked by evangelical enthusiasm for or support of any cause.

Normally the phrase is associated with ENTHUSIASTIC preachers such as Billy Graham showed in photo below or the preacher in the film "There Will be Blood".



Evangelist marketing is a phrase I came across some time ago, I think in an article or presentation I saw by Guy Kawasaki. I haven't thought of it in a long time until I was about to write this article. I realised that I recommend two applications on this blog yet say absolutely nothing about what they do, or why you should use them. So this post was suppose to be a brief description of the applications. I will do this but I also want to talk about the importance of two concepts, evangelist marketing and the technology adoption life cycle.





I thought of the term evangelist marketing because I realised when I went to type that I am an evangelist for both these products. An evangelist is a customer, who is so enamored with a product that they begin to promote the product themselves for no other reason than they think it's great (ie. for no personal gain). Ideally every company would like to have evangelists for all their products as they have been proven to be extremely beneficial for companies. The greatest example in the business world is Apple computers. In the late 1980's when the macintosh computer was intoduced to the market, softare developers liked it so much that they began writing software for it, this in turn lead to more sales of macintosh's. To this day Apple has an extremely high customer retention rate and a highly envied one. This is due to the fact that people genuinely love their products and think others may benefit. As Guy said

Apple has thousands of user groups. Those are truly the evangelists. They're not paid. They're not employees. They tell people to use Macintosh solely for the other person's benefit. That is the difference between evangelism and sales. Sales is rooted in what's good for me. Evangelism is rooted in what's good for you




So what are Evernote and Skitch?? and why should I use them??


Evernote is an amazing application that allows you to capture information of various types, including text notes, mobile phone snapshots, printed and handwritten text within images, web clips, and digital ink. This is then stored in multiple notebooks which are fully searchable (ie. you can search for text within an image!, including handwriting).

Skitch is a tool for taking screenshots or webcam shots. The big plus here is if you come across anything online, you can use the incredibly simple layout to take a picture and can drag and drop this directly in to evernote and store for later.

Evernote Elevator pitch
