I Realised I was Broke!

Making Money from Kanye West in College (Part 1)

It all started some time in late September 2008. Like all classic Irish literature this story begins in a bar. Two Hungry and slightly cold students were sitting outside the college bar in between lectures lamenting the fact that they were broke.

After one pint..........they came to the conclusion that their fiscal policy was incompatible with their lifestyle. Income and Expenditure were not ideally aligned, and Expenditure far exceeded Income.

After two pints...........(Guinness, so drinking slow) they decided that cutting expenditure was not an option, and therefore if they were to continue enjoying the life they had grown accustomed to, it was going to have to be income where the changes would be made.

The students were of the Peter Drucker mindset -

"Enterprises are paid to create wealth, not to control costs. But that obvious fact is not reflected in traditional measurements. First year accounting students are taught that the balance sheet portrays the liquidation value of the enterprise and provides creditors with worse case information. But enterprises are not normally run to be liquidated. they have to be managed as going concerns, that is, for wealth creation."

ie. These students didn't want to have to stop going out!

The Ideas for Wealth Creation

• Sell DVD's and CD's with downloaded material
  
• Start an off license (Liquor Store) that delivers after newly introduced closing time of 10PM
  
• Start a taxi service for local students at cheap rates
  
• Sell glasses and bottle openers door to door to students
  
• Start 24 hr student emergency delivery shop selling student essentials (bog roll condoms fags etc)
  
• Numerous other equally ridiculous or illegal ideas!
  

Needless to say that these ideas were either illegal/time consuming /unrealistic or just not very good! However out of this meeting one idea stuck in my mind.........PART 2
